Transmitted Light

Several minerals that are normally colorless, sometimes have faint colors, with or without weak pleochroism. Be careful not to confuse color with alteration or inclusions. Minerals altered to clays or sericite, in PPL show colors in various shades of cream or brown that are not diagnostic. Inclusions can make the mineral cloudy. When in doubt, consider the mineral to be pleochroic.
